Leicester City supporters react to Newcastle's latest bid for 'irreplaceable' Maddison

Leicester City supporters are distraught at the thought of losing James Maddison to Newcastle United. ChronicleLive understands a second bid of around £50million has been tabled to entice the midfielder away from the King Power Stadium.

Toon chiefs saw a £40million offer rejected over the weekend as they desperately attempt to bolster the squad ahead of the Premier League opener. While reaction on Tyneside is overwhelmingly positive, little is known about how the Foxes’ fanbase have reacted.

Well, we can tell you that Leicester fans are far from impressed at the thought of losing their star asset…

Several have suggested that the £50million bid is derisory, with their owners reportedly slapping a £60million price tag on the 25-year-old. One fan even took a swipe at Newcastle, pondering why Maddison would choose to join a “smaller” club.

The prospect of United snaring one of Leicester's star players is a stark contrast from 2019 when Ayoze Perez swapped Tyneside for the East Midlands. This is how the former Premier League champions’ supporters responded to the news on social media.

@ffsDolo: So we would actually let him go to a smaller club for 60?? Hope not, he is irreplaceable.

@foxesontour: OH James Maddsion oh WILL STAY AT LEICESTER UP THE FOXES

@LCFCHQ: I get the impression Newcastle United seem to be trying to unsettle #LCFC before the season starts. Are they panicking?

@lcgraphix2018: Madders going for new contract

@holyland2: Honestly think If Madders & Fofana were to be sold, Rodgers would walk out and I wouldn’t blame him

@thorpie54: Newcastle bid for Maddison increased to £50m. Not enough in my book, got to hope #lcfc powers feel the same.

@Ashleypp1986: We are not very good in transfer windows are we but this must go down as one of the worst! #lcfc

@LukeThorne6: For me if Maddison or Fofana get sold I think you will see Brendan Rodgers leave. No manager wants there best players being sold a week before the season starts. Each player is worth 80m+ and if they go for anything lower #lcfc will have shot themselves in the foot!!
