Leeds village restaurant Cora announces plans to close

A Leeds village restaurant has told customers it will soon close.

Cora, based in the village of Boston Spa, will shut for good on Saturday, July 29. The team have taken to social media to announce the news and explain their decision.

In a Facebook post, a Cora spokesperson said: “Over the past two years, Cora has had the privilege of serving you, our esteemed patrons, and it is with great sadness that we bid farewell. In these challenging times for the hospitality industry, we find ourselves confronted with a battle that, despite our unwavering efforts, we are unable to overcome.

“The decision to close our doors has not been an easy one, but we must face the reality that lies before us. Our journey has been defined by the joy of our culinary craftsmanship, the warmth of your visits with us, and the memories we have shared together.

“We are eternally grateful for the trust and loyalty you have shown us, allowing us to create unforgettable dining experiences. Before we part ways, we would like to extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join us once more, to indulge in the dishes and experiences that have become synonymous with Cora.”

The team, led by Elizabeth Cottam, has paid tribute to staff and customers. Many have sent supportive messages following the shock decision.

Emma Bruce said: “So sad. Such a loss. Cora has been a real asset to the village.” While Lorna Gladstone added: “This is such sad news. We only visited last week and it was amazing. A huge loss to the village. All the best for the future.”

Sandra Zumba Matthews posted: “So sad. Knowing Liz, I know this would not have been an easy decision. Feel for you all.” Angela Spink said: “Such sad news. Amazing food and service. We will miss you.”
