Motherwell are 'plotting a season-long loan move' for Leeds United youngster Stuart McKinstry.
The 19-year-old, from Wishaw, was part of the Fir Park academy since the age of 10 before he earned a big move down south in 2019.
He has previously been linked with a return to his local club but The Herald report that the Steelmen are now hoping to secure his services until the end of the 2022/23 campaign on loan.
McKinstry came through the academy under new Motherwell boss Steven Hammell and the two could be about to be reunited.
Hammell was asked about the Scotland youth international at his press conference last week, in which he stated: "I know Stuart well, he's a super talented young player.
"He's someone who would maybe interest us but there's nothing there just now. "
However, it is understood Motherwell are in the driving seat to sign him up, despite competition "from other Scottish clubs."
McKinstry has so far played just twice for the Elland Road first team and is under contract until summer 2023.
Motherwell boss Hammell is keen to strengthen his squad as he aims to put his stamp on the team, following Graham Alexander's exit last month.
