Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has explained what he has done to change his mentality after scoring four times in his last two Premier League matches.
The 25-year-old netted his first top-flight goal of the season in the 3-1 win over Burnley earlier this month, before he continued his good form by grabbing a hat-trick in the 3-2 success at West Ham United last weekend.
It was also Harrison's first treble of his professional career and he looked very sharp throughout the game, getting into many dangerous positions which was rewarded at the end with the three points.
After scoring just twice before the new year, it's safe to say the former Manchester City midfielder has started 2022 in the best possible way and he has opened up on the changes he's made to his daily routine.
"I have been working with someone to approach games differently," Harrison told the official Leeds United podcast.
"I think at the start of the season I struggled a lot and I have continued working on the things that was working for me before. I think I got caught up on the negatives and thinking more about that, rather than the positive things I was doing in the games.
"So, I have been talking to someone about it to open my mind up a bit more and think about the positives and more about the reasons how I was doing so well last season and what I was doing to achieve this.
"I wanted to be more specific on my game, in particular, and replicating these things in the game and trying to get in the mindset through repetition.
"It's crazy what you can do with the mind when you're thinking positively instead of focusing on the negatives. Being more positive about things has a massive impact."
Harrison's hat-trick was pivotal as the Whites earning back-to-back victories in the Premier League for the first time this season and it seems as though they're building some momentum after a difficult start.
Leeds had won just three matches prior to the Burnley success on January 2, but their recent up-turn in form has seen them move nine points clear of the relegation zone heading into this weekend's clash with Newcastle United.
However, Harrison has also been speaking about how the Whites squad battled through the first half of the campaign given some of the results they've picked up along the way.
He added: "It's a great group of lads we have here. We have the leaders in the group; Luke Ayling, Stuart Dallas, [Liam] Cooper, [Adam] Forshaw, they're great leaders of the group and they show a good level of professionalism throughout everything, whether it's good or bad and they'll always try to get the team going again.
"It's great to have these people around and if you look at the periods we've had this season, it could be so easy to get down on ourselves, get caught in this back hole, but you have these guys who maintain their level and mentality through the bad times.
"It's good to have them and in general, all the players in this team are levelheaded and have a good head on their shoulders who are willing to work hard for the team."
