A look at how the national press reacted to Leeds united’s thrilling 4-2 win.
Costa the peacemaker
Tom Collomosse for the Daily Mail noted the irony of Diego Costa, renowned for his fiery streak, acting as the mediator during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ post-match fury. He wrote: “When Diego Costa is acting as peacemaker, you know things really have gone out of control.
“The Wolves forward has spent his career ready to start a fight in a phone box but this time he was restraining Matheus Nunes, a fellow unused substitute, who had just been shown a red card and was preparing to turn his fury on referee Michael Salisbury.

“The reason for Nunes' anger was Salisbury's decision to allow Rodrigo's injury-time fourth for Leeds following a VAR check, even though there appeared to be a shirt pull on Adama Traore at the start of the move.
“Yet the match had long since descended into fury and bitterness as the tension of the tightest Premier League relegation battle in years took hold. Leeds moved out of the bottom three but Wolves were outraged, with members of Julen Lopetegui's backroom team requesting to speak to Salisbury after the game.”
Another crazy Molineux trip
The Guardian paid homage to last year’s trip to Molineux when the Whites fought from two goals down to win 3-2. Yesterday proved equally as thrilling as Leeds moved from 19th to 14th in the table.
“Leeds, a year to the day since coming from 2-0 down to win at Molineux after Raúl Jiménez was sent off, enjoyed another crazy victory over Wolves to climb five places and two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone,” Peter Lansley summarised.
“In a game as chaotic as it was thrilling, on an afternoon of torrential downpours, sunshine and double rainbows, Jonny gave one goal away, scored a 40-yard volley and was sent off six minutes from time. Wolves, after a run of one win in six games, are immersed in the battle for survival: sitting three points above the bottom three having played a game more than most of their rivals.”
Wolves nervier
A report for Sky Sports suggested Wolves will be most nervous out of the two sides following the result. Despite the win, Leeds are still a point behind Lopetegui’s side.
“Leeds moved out of the Premier League relegation zone thanks to a thrilling 4-2 win against Wolves at Molineux,” the report read.
“After Leeds started the day in the relegation zone, Gracia's team are now up to 14th in the Premier League table - just one place and one point behind Julen Lopetegui's Wolves. And it is Wolves who will be the more nervous after this showing, a second straight defeat that leaves them only three points clear of the relegation zone.”
