Leeds United U23 player ratings as Crysencio Summerville wins two penalties in Liverpool victory

Leeds United U23s recorded a long overdue win at Elland Road on Monday evening, seeing off the challenge of Liverpool with a three-goal victory.

Goals from Jack Jenkins, Crysencio Summerville and Max Dean ensured the young Whites moved out of the relegation zone.

Dutchman Summerville had a hand in all three goals, winning two late penalties and converting one, while his effort in the first half was parried straight into the path of Jack Jenkins to score the rebound.

U23s captain Charrlie Cresswell made a comeback from injury on the night, playing the full 90 minutes.

Here are the U23s player ratings.

Kristoffer Klaesson - 6

Distributed out to the full-backs and wingers dropping into Leeds' half accurately for the most part. Took his time on the ball a few times, but a clean sheet is a clean sheet.

Kris Moore - 6

Solid at right-back, dealing with the threat of recent Liverpool debutant Kaide Gordon relatively well.

Charlie Cresswell - 6

A few rusty moments to begin his competitive comeback from injury, including a Maradona-esque spin which forfeited possession. Grew into the contest and proved a steady hand. Clean sheets are his currency.

Jeremiah Mullen - 8

Particularly impressive during the first half; especially in terms of carrying possession out of defence and spreading the ball out to the wide options. Covered over on a number of occasions, making blocks and tidying up, quelling danger.

Highlight of the game was his ability to beat two men inside Leeds' half before spraying an inch-perfect 40-yard ball out to Summerville in the build-up to Jenkins' goal.

Harvey Sutcliffe - 7

Similar to Mullen on the ball. Some important blocks off it.

Nohan Kenneh - 6

Started in defensive midfield and made a number of important tackles. Held his position well.

Jack Jenkins - 6

Scored the game's opening goal from Crysencio Summerville's rebounded effort cutting in from the left. Cleaned up in Leeds' half on a couple of occasions and maintained the team's shape when Archie Gray moved into the forward line to press.

Archie Gray - 7

A quieter first half on the ball from Gray, but yet again demonstrating he can mix it in terms of physicality at this level. Ball stuck to his chest whenever he received a long, straight pass up from back. Dynamic ball-carrying in the second half.

Amari Miller - 6

Fouled a lot on the far side during the opening 45 minutes but found it tough to get to the byline and put crosses in like Summerville.

Crysencio Summerville - 9

A constant threat and frequent outlet on the right. So much quicker and sharper than Liverpool's left-sided pairing. Little surprise Leeds' opener came from him isolating his man and beating him with a burst of acceleration inside.

Won two late penalties, courtesy of his quick feet and perhaps a helping hand from the referee, but his Man of the Match award was thoroughly deserved.

Max Dean - 8

Boyhood Evertonian Dean had a couple of half-chances during the first half but the transitional nature of the game meant he was largely chasing Liverpool's defenders into surrendering the ball out for a throw-in - which he's good at.

Similar to Gray in the sense he was able to make the ball stick when in receipt of a straight pass up from the defence. Played the ball in behind for Leeds' second goal perfectly. But his night wasn't done there; converting a second spot-kick in a matter of minutes moments later.

Subs:

Sean McGurk - 7

Came on in the No. 10 position at half-time and showcased his ability to go right or left, as well as working back plenty.

Charlie Allen - n/a

On in the 75th minute.

Mateo Joseph - n/a

On for stoppage time.
