Leeds United U21s team news as key men miss out in Carabao Cup team hint

Michael Skubala will be without Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph this afternoon as Leeds United U21s take on Newcastle United at Thorp Arch. The Whites’ first-team are expected to make changes this week to face Wolves in the Carabao Cup and Skubala seems to have picked his team accordingly.

Joseph has been a fixture in the U21s side this season, but after featuring on the bench for the senior side on Saturday, it seems he could be included at Molineux on Wednesday night. Gyabi also misses out and could be in contention to make a senior bow.

Sonny Perkins drops to the bench in what could be an effort to manage his game time. Kristoffer Klaesson comes back into the U21s side and he’ll play behind a defensive line that features the returning Keenan Carole.

The left-back has missed the last two months of action through injury, but he’s been deemed fit enough to take on the Magpies this afternoon. Alfie McCalmont captains the side, while Amari Miller gets his first start of the season after being used sparingly off the bench this season.

Max Dean and Joseph Snowdon also come into the side, while Charlie Crew, who joined from Cardiff City in summer features on the bench.

Leeds United U21s: Kristoffer Klaesson; Cody Drameh, Keenan Carole, Kris Moore, James Debayo, Morten Spencer, Charlie Allen, Alfie McCalmont, Max Dean, Joseph Snowdon, Amari Miller.

Bench: Harry Christy, Charlie Crew, Sonny Perkins, Cian Coleman, Luca Thomas
