Leeds United U21s player ratings as Max Dean stars to seal comfortable win over Newcastle

Kristoffer Klaesson: Picked the ball out of his net twice but could little to prevent either goal. 6

Cody Drameh: The right-back looked the part once more and picked up an assist by setting up Max Dean at the start of the second half. Replaced by Cian Coleman on the hour mark. 7

Keenan Carole: Back in the side after almost two months on the sidelines injured. A couple of moments of rust but looked strong moving forward. 7

Kris Moore: Opened the scoring within a minute with his glancing header and forced the goalkeeper into a fine save with another header later in the game. Handled most things Newcastle threw his way. 8

James Debayo: Looks very comfortable at this level. He provided a touch of class at the back and never looked troubled by Newcastle’s efforts. 8

Morten Spencer: Moved back into midfield after featuring at centre-back in recent weeks. Looked strong on the ball and showcased some fine passing. 7

Charlie Allen: One of the Whites’ best. He’s in superb form at present and Newcastle couldn’t handle his pace and creativity at times. 8

Alfie McCalmont: Kept a handle on things in the middle of the park. Dropped back well when needed and provided a safe presence on the ball. 7

Max Dean: Bagged a second half hat-trick to see Leeds seize control of the contest. Took all three goals well and looked a threat throughout the contest. 9

Joseph Snowdon: A really impressive showing in the number 10 spot. Made things happen, particularly in the second half, with his neat passing and driving runs. Probably should have scored when Coleman put him through the line. 8

Amari Miller: Made his first start of the season for the Under-21s and after a quiet first half he provided a real threat after the break, bursting forward at every opportunity. 7

Subs

Cian Coleman (Drameh 60): Instantly impressed after stepping off the bench. Set up Snowdon’s chance and had a role in Dean’s third. 7

Charlie Crew (Snowdon 77): The game was won when he came on but he still worked hard on his first appearance for the U21s. 6

Sonny Perkins (Dean 77): A cameo appearance for the forward. Almost created an own goal in stoppage time. 6

Subs not used: Harry Christy, Luca Thomas
