Kristoffer Klaesson: Didn’t have an awful lot to do in the first half due to Leeds’ dominance. There was little he could have done about Saints’ first, but probably could have done more to prevent Sam Bellis scoring their second. 6
Luke Ayling: Got forward well in support of Crysencio Summerville throughout the contest. Fluffed his lines in front of goal in the first half but more than impressed with the ball at his feet. 7
Junior Firpo: A steady performance on his return from injury. He didn’t have lots of defensive work to do but he got forward when he could and had a chance to score in the second half, only to slice his effort wide. 7

Leo Hjelde: Looked the part in an experienced Leeds back line. Got back well to deny Dom Ballard in the first half and looked neat with his passing game. 8
Liam Cooper: Showed a bit of rust in the first half with some heavy touches, but kept his composure and managed to grab himself a goal just before the break with a looping header. 7
Darko Gyabi: Silky smooth in the middle of the park. Continues to impress and got Leeds moving forward well. 8
Crysencio Summerville: Clearly too good for this level. He bullied Southampton’s left-back all night with his ball control and skill. Scored Leeds’ second of the game with a smart finish before winning the penalty that led to Bamford’s second of the game. 9
Archie Gray: Got involved in the middle of the park, kept possession well and put in the odd tackle, too. He wasn’t the headline maker but his effort went a long way. 8
Patrick Bamford: Found things easy as he bagged three goals and 75 minutes of match action against the Saints. 9
Sonny Perkins: Quiet in the first half but came to life after the break to continue his record of scoring in every appearance he has made for the club. He has six in five U21s appearances now. 7
Wilfried Gnonto: Enjoyed his first appearance at Elland Road. He carried the ball well, looked a constant threat and showed the odd bit of skill, tool, on the night he received a call-up for Italy. 8
Keenan Carole (Firpo 75): Couldn't make too much of an impact on the left side. 6
Mateo Joseph (Bamford 75): Lively up front but couldn't find a lot of joy in the closing minutes. 6
Charlie Allen (Gnonto 81): Entered the game too late to make an impact. 6
Kris Moore (Ayling 81): Gifted Bellis the space needed to score Southampton's second. 6
