Leeds United transfer rumours with latest on Mergim Berisha, Martin Terrier and Charles De Ketelaere

Your Leeds United transfer round-up for Tuesday, August 2.

Leeds want Berisha

Fenerbahce are desperate to sell Leeds target Mergim Berisha, according to Turkish outlet Yeni Safak. The same piece claims a £4million asking price has been placed on the striker - who only bagged four goals last season.

However, the Whites reportedly value the 24-year-old at £1.75million as Jesse Marsch hunts for a backup option to Patrick Bamford. Injury woes almost relegated Leeds last season and Elland Road chiefs want to avoid a similar catastrophe this year.

The Turkish giants are said to be desperate to offload as they have too many foreign players on their books. Super Lig sides can only register up to 14 non-Turkish players and Fenerbahce have signed nine foreign nationals this summer.

Yorkshire Terrier?

Leeds “like” Rennes striker Martin Terrier but any deal would cost in excess of £30million, report The Athletic. Similar to Safak, it is no secret that Marsch wants to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

At 25, Terrier’s age is a slight cause for concern as Leeds chiefs have a “resale” policy when scouting players. There is, however, no doubting his quality as he bagged 21 goals in Ligue 1 last year.

A product of Lille’s academy, Terrier struggled to make an impact at his hometown club or in Lyon but has begun to realise his potential at Rennes.

‘No way’ for De Ketelaere

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano insists there was no chance Charles De Ketelaere was going to choose Leeds over AC Milan. Despite persistent links, the Belgian international is expected to snub a move to Elland Road in favour of the San Siro in the coming days.

Romano told his YouTube channel there was no real hope of the talented youngster joining the Whites. “No way for Leeds,” he said. “They were trying and trying for De Ketelaere, they did their best, but the player wanted the AC Milan move, and so Leeds will find a new striker, I’m sure.”
