Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites miss out on teenage prodigy as Luke Ayling linked with exit

Here are your latest Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday, December 3.

Manchester City 'agree deal' for Leeds target

Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign teenage prodigy Kylan Midwood, who was a target for Leeds United according to Fabrizio Romano.

Alongside Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle, Leeds are said to have missed out on the 14-year-old's signature, with a move to the Premier League champions nearing completion.

Such is the talent of Midwood, he has already featured for the Blades' U18s outfit and is an England U15 international.

Romano adds that City want to develop and sign the best young British talent and offer them a pathway to first-team football. The Whites have previously signed Darko Gyabi and Jack Harrison from their youth set-up.

Midfielder sets eyes on continuing Elland Road stay

LeedsLive's Leeds United correspondent Beren Cross has told Whites supporters that midfielder Adam Forshaw is unlikely to depart the club.

Forshaw's time at Elland Road has, somewhat, been blighted by an unfortunate string of injuries and the former Middlesbrough man suffered another setback in October after requiring a hernia operation.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of the 2022/2023 campaign, it would come as little surprise if the Whites have plans to move on Forshaw. He had made just three Premier League appearances this season

However, in our Leeds United fan Q&A Cross explained that the 31-year-old will be keen to fight for his future at Leeds and, therefore, is unlikely to complete January departure. “I can’t see Forshaw moving on. He has a contract to fight for at Leeds and will want to get back to a decent level after his injury issues,” he wrote.

Long-serving defender 'likely' to make summer exit

Luke Ayling is "likely" to leave Leeds United this summer upon the expiry of his contract, claims Graeme Baily.

Having joined the club from Bristol City in the summer of 2016, Ayling has become a favourite at Elland Road after making 228 appearances for the Whites. The full-back was a key figure in helping Leeds complete a long-awaited return to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

Though, the presence of Danish international Rasmus Kristensen and talented full-back Cody Drameh has restricted the 31-year-old to just one top-flight start this season.

And Bailey told TeamTalk that such competition is likely to result in a departure, explaining: “Leeds ideally would like Drameh to be challenging Rasmus Kristensen over the next 12 months, with Luke Ayling looking likely to leave in the summer.
