Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites battle Celtic and Rangers for Dutch star

Whites battle Celtic and Rangers for Dutch star

Gustavo Hamer has been gaining attention ever since moving to the Championship with Coventry City last season.

According to reports, Leeds United are set to battle a group of clubs, including Celtic and Rangers for the midfielder, and his intense playing style would be a natural fit for Jesse Marsch's philosphy.

Coventry hope to sign the former PEC Zwolle player to a new contract.

Marsch connection gives Leeds edge in Aaronson deal

Victor Orta had RB Salzburg's Brenden Aaronson as his top transfer target in January and is said to be keen on returning to sign the player in the summer after failing to secure the American international with the first two bids.

Leeds are said to be confident that the appointment of Marsch as the new manager of the club will help tip the deal in their favour when they return in the summer, as Aaronson is likely to have multiple options.

The attacking midfielder played under Marsch when he first moved to Salzburg and is said to have loved working with the former Salzburg manager.

Leeds will need to retain their Premier League status if they are to attract Aaronson.

Jurgen Klopp 'didn't think' about Minamino exit

Another player who has connections to Marsch is Liverpool attacker, Takumi Minamino.

The Whites were said to be considering signing the Japanese player, who Marsch coached at Salzburg and he even scored at Anfield as a Salzburg player under the new Leeds manager.

However, Jurgen Klopp has stated that Liverpool 'didn't think' about letting Minamino - who is a backup squad player for the Reds - leave the club.

"No, we didn’t think about it. I don’t think he thought about it," Klopp said after Minamino scored a brace as Liverpool beat Norwich to advance in the FA Cup.

Given the links to Marsch and his in depth knowledge of playing in the system Leeds will now employ under their new manager, it wouldn't be surprising to see Victor Orta return with a genuine offer for the attacking midfielder.
