Brazil international wanted
Matheus Cunha is a “serious” target for Leeds, according to The Athletic. Cover in attacking areas is thin at Elland Road, with Patrick Bamford perennially on the treatment table.
Signing a forward next month would give supporters comfort going into the second half of the campaign. Cunha has struggled to settle since arriving at Atletico Madrid for £30million last year.

Just seven goals - and none this season - in 54 appearances reads grim viewing for Whites’ fans hoping for a prolific goalscorer. Chelsea are also reportedly showing interest due to Armando Broja suffering a long-term injury.
Another World Cup star linked
Leeds are battling with Newcastle United to sign Gonzalo Plata, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The winger has 33 caps for Ecuador and starred at the World Cup in Qatar.
Luis Sinisterra remains injured with a rare foot injury whereas Crysencio Summerville was forced off against Elche last week. A long-term contract until 2027 means the Whites may need to fork out top dollar.
Plata is a left-footed speedster who can operate on either flank. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid before making his move permanent in July.
Livakovic to Leeds?
French outlet Media Foot claims the Whites have enquired about Croatian shot-stopper Dominik Livakovic. Three saves in the penalty shoot-out win over Japan and another against Brazil has placed the 27-year-old among the favourites for the World Cup’s Golden Glove award - given to the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
Livakovic has spent his entire career in Zagreb but, with 18 months left on his deal, a link abroad could materialise. Illan Meslier is the current number one at Elland Road but would face stiff competition from the Croat.
As well as a stellar World Cup, the goalie has enjoyed a fine season at club level. Dinamo Zagreb sit top of the league and Livakovic kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Chelsea three months ago.
