Leeds United transfer rumours as prolific former Whites striker linked with return

Here are your latest Leeds United morning transfer rumours on Sunday, December 4.

Leeds United linked with move for former striker Chris Wood

Chris Wood could be set for a sensational return to Leeds United, with Football Insider stating that the Whites are weighing up a bid for the New Zealand star.

Wood scored an impressive 44 goals across a two-year spell at Elland Road before departing for the Premier League and Burnley in 2017. Having become a proven top-flight striker, he signed for Newcastle United in a £25 million January deal.

The 30-year-old has since slipped down the St James' Park pecking order following Alexander Isak's mega-money arrival and the impressive form of Callum Wilson.

And reports suggest that Leeds will look to ease the pressure on top-scorer Rodrigo by entering the loan market and making a temporary move for Wood. Patrick Bamford's injury struggles mean the addition of a forward could significantly bolster survival hopes.

Whites braced for Traore transfer tussle

Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore in January but will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

Traore spent the second half of last season on loan at boyhood club Barcelona, with his Wolves contract set to expire in the summer. The Spaniard has shown little desire to pen extended terms and appears destined for the Molineux exit door.

The Midlands club, subsequently, face losing Traore for free at the end of the current campaign unless a cut-price move can be agreed in January. 90min.com claim that Leeds director of football Victor Orta is a known fan of the pacey attacker and signed him for Middlesbrough in 2016.

However, Spurs are said to retain hopes of signing Traore after coming close to landing his signature in January. European heavyweights Napoli, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, are also credited with an interest and can begin to negotiate a pre-contract agreement next month.

Striker offers January transfer Leeds plea

Dion Drena Beljo has confessed his fondness for Leeds United in what could be viewed as a January transfer plea.

The forward is said to be eying up a move away from current club Osijek after scoring eight goals in 16 appearances in the Croatian top-flight.

Standing at 6’3, the Croatia under-21 international could represent a budget-forward addition, with strikers usually coming at a premium throughout the winter window.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Beljo is "ready for the next step" and questioned him on potential destinations.

When asked to pick a preferred Premier League outfit Beljo stated: "Favourite team in England? Newcastle United. I also like Leeds United.“
