Leeds United transfer rumours as Premier League rivals linked with Whites defender

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours and gossip for Tuesday, March 7.

Newcastle United 'interested' in Robin Koch

Elsewhere, German outlet Sport1 has claimed that Robin Koch is considering the 'next step' in his career with Leeds battling against relegation. They state that Newcastle are one of a handful of clubs looking to pry the centre-back away from Elland Road amid the Whites' struggles on the pitch.

Koch's contract currently runs until 2024, meaning Leeds may face a difficult decision in the upcoming summer window. Should the German not agree to renew his deal at the club, the risk of losing the defender on a free could well prompt the club to consider a potential sale.

However, Koch's recent performances will highlight the importance of tying the 26-year-old down to a new long-term contract. The centre-back was once again one of the best players on the pitch during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, a growing theme for the Whites this season.

Leeds United 'make approach' for Ryan Kent

Leeds United have reportedly made an approach to sign Ryan Kent from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

They state that the Whites have 'been in contact' with Kent, someone who the club have admired for a while now. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is now free to hold discussions with clubs such as Leeds regarding his next move.

It is thought that Burnley are also looking to battle Leeds for Kent's signature and that the Clarets' effort will only be bolstered should they confirm their place in the Premier League next season. And it could well be that the Whites' own top-flight status will prove vital over the completion of any deal.
