Your Leeds United transfer rumours round-up for Saturday, April 30.
Phillips a ‘possibility’ for Manchester United
Multiple reports have surfaced regarding Manchester United’s interest in Whites midfielder Kalvin Phillips, with the Athletic reporting the prospect of a £50 million bid currently being explored.
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano set the record straight on rumours of negotiations already taking place, stating that the 26-year-old is one of several options.
“Kalvin Phillips is a possibility. They’re exploring this possibility.” Romano said on the Gazetta Dello FIVE Youtube show.
“It’s not a negotiation between Leeds and Man United yet, let me clarify this point, because I see around about bids and negotiations. It’s not a negotiation.
“He’s just one of the names they have in the list. But he’s not a name that is like the first candidate now or close. He’s one of the candidates, but not the first one.”
Phillips started his first game since December in Monday’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, with multiple reports suggesting a new deal at Leeds is on the horizon.
Whites eye ‘well thought of’ Manchester United midfielder
Victor Orta may be wanting to bring someone the other way from across the Pennines, with out-on-loan Manchester United midfielder James Garner mentioned by the Athletic’s Phil Hay.
The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at Old Trafford and is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he has four goals and six assists in 38 appearances in the Championship.
“One player who was mentioned to me a few weeks back was James Garner,” Hay told the Phil Hay Show on Thursday.
“Garner’s well-thought-of over there.
“Manchester United like the idea of keeping him but I think when it comes to loan options, he might have a few.”
Dest likely to stay at Barca after impressive turnaround
Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest is now likely to stay at Barcelona beyond this summer despite reported interest from Leeds in January.
The Catalan club’s financial problems meant that several fringe players were on the market, with the 21-year-old American deemed surplus to requirements.
But ESPN has reported that Dest has turned things around at the Nou Camp.
They wrote: “Dest, who always wanted to stay at Barca, has managed to change Xavi's mind through working hard in training and performing when being given a chance.”
They also reported that the club remain ‘open to offers’ but that the American is part of their long-term plans.
