A round-up of the latest Leeds United transfer news on Saturday, 16 April.
Archie Gray attracting interest after impressive campaign
Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray is attracting interest from outside of Elland Road after and impressive campaign with the Whites' U18's and U23's. The Whites forward captained England’s under-16 side as they drew 1-1 with Holland earlier this week.
Now, the Daily Record, who shared a player profile on his career so far, claim he's gaining admirers after making the bench earlier this year just 15-years-old. They wrote: “ Archie Gray is a name that is already attracting interest south of the border with the teenage sensation’s exploits at Elland Road earning him a reputation as hot property.”
Gray is yet to make an appearance for the first team but made the bench twice earlier this year due to the Whites injury problems. It's unlikely he'll make the breakthrough into Jesse Marsch's squad next year and Leeds are able to boast an impressive track record of developing talents, which could work in their favour.
Manchester City told to replace Fernandino with Kalvin Phillips
Manchester City have been told to sign Kalvin Phillips as a replacement for Fernandino after the Brazilian midfielder said he would leave the Blues at the end of his contract. The revelation shocked Pep Guardiola earlier this week and Alan Hutton says they should look at the Leeds United midfielder.
“The system Man City have, they will have someone lined up for that position," Hutton told Football Insider. “I don’t want to mention West Ham in case David Sullivan rings me about touting his players around.
“Man City need to fill that gap with someone like Declan Rice. Kalvin Phillips is excellent but Rice is maybe ahead in terms of experience. I think Rice does a bit more defensively than Phillips but there is no doubting they are both quality.”
