David De Gea confident of new contract amid Illan Meslier links
David de Gea is confident he will extend his contract at Manchester United amid previous reports linking Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier with a move to Old Trafford.
French publication Media Foot reported in December that both Man United and Chelsea were interested in signing Meslier.

However, De Gea is reportedly close to signing a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
Although the Red Devils have an option to extend by another year, both the club and player have entered talks over a longer extension.
Manchester Evening News have reported that De Gea is likely to take a reduction in his £375,000-a-week salary in order to extend his stay at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Spaniard joined Man United in the summer of 2011, and has won seven trophies with the club, including the Premier League in 2012/13.
De Gea made his 517th appearance for the Red Devils in their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The 32-year-old revealed after the game: "We’re still talking. I’m just focused on the game, that’s the most important thing, but for sure it’s going to end in a good way"
Rangers want to tie down former Leeds target Ryan Kent to new contract
Rangers manager Michael Beale wants to tie long-time Leeds target Ryan Kent down to a new contract at Ibrox.
Kent has been linked with a move to Elland Road over the past few transfer windows. The Daily Mail reported that Leeds were once again weighing up a move for the Rangers winger back in the summer.
His contract expires at the end of the season, but Beale has sent the former Liverpool academy graduate a clear message regarding his future in Glasgow.
“Listen, there is the players having their ideas and the club having theirs. I am navigating through both of that," Beale told the Scottish Sun.
“Everyone knows my relationship with Ryan and Alfredo [Morales] is really, really strong. They have both been here a long time and if they chose not to be here that would be on them.
“I would like them both to remain but that has all got to fit in with their plans and the club’s plans as well."
