Leeds United transfer rumours as Daniel James backed to have played last game for Whites

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Saturday, 10 September 2022.

Dan James

Transfer insider Dean Jones believes Daniel James will not play for Leeds United again after his loan move to Fulham. Despite featuring in four of Leeds’ five opening matches, with his only absence down to suspension, James made the deadline switch to Fulham on a season-long-loan.

The Welshman was allowed to leave without a ready-made first team replacement coming in, and given the circumstances around the loan deal, Jones thinks that will be the end of James’ time at Elland Road.

He told GiveMeSport : “I mean, all signs suggest that that’s it for him now. I mean, they wouldn’t be letting him out on loan to another Premier League club, which is essentially going to be a kind of rival in terms of league position to season you would imagine, to then bring him back.”

Charlie Taylor

Burnley defender Charlie Taylor has claimed he was ‘never in any rush to leave’ Burnley in the summer despite relegation to the Championship. Taylor was tenuously linked with a return to Leeds United during the window, though no move ever materialised.

Despite seeing a number of his former teammates depart Turf Moor, Taylor insists a move was not something he was pushing for. He told the Burnley Express : “No, not really.

“I was never really pushing to move, I’m happy here and I think it’s a good project. With the manager and the players we’ve brought in, I think we’ve got a good squad. I think we should be right up there challenging for the league this year.

“With the amount of change I’ve seen here over the last six months you just never know what’s going to happen. You never know in football. It was probably down to the club; I didn’t know where they saw my future, but I was always happy here, I enjoy it here and I always have done. It’s a great group of lads so I was never in any rush to leave.”

Mateusz Bogusz

Ibiza president Amadeo Salvo has described Leeds United loanee Mateusz Bogusz as a ‘revelation’ after his return to the club last month. Bogusz made the switch to the Spanish Second Division side for the second successive season during the summer window after his impressive campaign last term was cut short due to injury.

The Polish midfielder suffered an ACL injury in January after scoring four goals and providing seven assists in 20 matches. Salvo is hoping for another campaign of a similar level from Bogusz but admits they will need to be ‘patient’ after such a serious injury.

He told Diario de Ibiza: His work was incomplete last season. (He was) one of the revelations of the second division (but) he had the misfortune of injury.

(We could not) replace him because of the level he had offered. This year we have tried and both the persistence of the club and the willingness of Bogusz to return to Ibiza, and the help of Leeds, has got him here.

“He is in the group dynamic, but we have to be patient with him.”
