Leeds United transfer rumours as Brennan Johnson tipped to reject Whites

Brennan Johnson tipped to reject Whites

Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson was regularly speculated about throughout January, with Leeds United and Brentford - among other Premier League clubs - said to be keen on the winger.

There have been reports stating that Victor Orta will move for Johnson in the summer but the Mirror have claimed that the player is set to reject his suitors in favour of signing a new contract at the City Ground.

Forest are still in the hunt for a play-off spot and the 20-year-old has been a star player for the Reds this season, providing five assists and scoring nine times in the Championship in 32 appearances.

Spurs should 'definitely be in the reckoning' for Raphinha

As reports broke yesterday about a mooted release clause of £20m for Raphinha should Leeds be relegated, there has been a growing list of clubs linked who would want to make a pitch for the player at such a bargain price.

One of those is Spurs, who have taken Dejan Kulusevski on loan from Juventus for the second half of the season but may be in the hunt for a permanent upgrade on their right wing position in the summer after failing to complete a deal for Luis Diaz.

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Spurs should 'definitely be in the reckoning' for the Brazilian if the rumours of his release clause are true.

Growing list of clubs prepare to battle for Kamara

Another player Leeds were linked to in January was Marseille's Boubacar Kamara. The midfielder has rejected a contract at Marseille and he will now be available on a free transfer in the summer. Whilst Leeds have been said to be admirers of the player, the other linked teams suggest that he will be a difficult target for Orta to attract to Elland Road and according to the Telegraph, this list of teams is growing.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are the favourites to sign the French U-21 international, whilst Newcastle United may still retain an interest despite signing Bruno Guimaraes in January. The North East club's deep pockets are likely to push requested wages beyond where Leeds would be prepared to go.
