Leeds United transfer news as Wayne Rooney plots raid and Jack Harrison confidence grows

Your Leeds United transfer round-up for Saturday, December 10.

Harrison confidence growing

TEAMtalk report that Leeds are confident Jack Harrison will pen a long-term extension. Newcastle United were linked with a move for the 26-year-old over the summer.

With just 18 months left of his contract, there were fears that the Whites could lose their asset for a cut-price fee. The same piece suggests there is less urgency to renew Rodrigo’s deal.

He also has 18 months left to run and has enjoyed a renaissance at Elland Road in recent times. However, a lack of interest from elsewhere means Leeds are not sweating on his future.

Rooney plots raid

Wayne Rooney will swoop for Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich next month, according to 90min. At 32, the long-serving Pole has become a bit-part player at Elland Road.

DC United finished rock bottom of the MLS this year and Rooney is aiming to bolster his ranks ahead of the new campaign. Jesse Marsch has previously hinted at a possible exit for Klich in the near future.

"It's not totally clear yet,” he said. “I think we should hold off on saying anything about that. There have been some conversations, but nothing concrete yet. Obviously, there's a lot of love for Mateusz in the group, he's an incredible person and we like him."

Morocco midfielder linked

Abdelhamid Sabiri, formerly of Huddersfield Town, is also linked with a move to Leeds. A brief spell in England failed to work out but the 26-year-old has rebuilt his career in Italy.

Now, the Moroccan has starred for his nation at the World Cup - and will take on Portugal in the semi-final. Championship outfit Sunderland were linked with Sabiri in the summer but a Premier League move could now be on the cards.

Sampdoria outlet Samp News 24 claim Real Betis, Lyon and Fiorentina are also tracking the midfielder. Around £5million is believed to be enough to secure a January switch.
