Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch forced into attacking reshuffle

Jesse Marsch has been forced into making one change to his Leeds United starting XI to face Chelsea this afternoon. The Whites will be looking to continue their positive start to the Premier League season by putting in a performance against Thomas Tuchel’s Blues at Elland Road.

Patrick Bamford has been ruled out of this afternoon’s clash with the groin issue he picked up last time out against Southampton. The striker was forced to leave the action in the first half at St Mary’s and while the injury isn’t thought to be a serious one, it has been enough to see him miss today’s game.

As such, Marsch has been forced into a reshuffle of his front four. It seems Rodrigo has been pushed further forward to play in the number nine role and the head coach will be keen to see him continue his red-hot scoring streak.

Dan James comes into the line-up and should start on the wing in a change that pushes Brenden Aaronson into a more central role.

Luis Sinisterra will look to play a role today off the bench, while Joe Gelhardt is fit enough to be involved after missing last week’s game with a dead leg.

Leeds: Illan Meslier; Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk; Tyler Adams, Marc Roca; Dan James, Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison; Rodrigo.

Bench: Kristoffer Klaesson, Leo Hjelde, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood, Mateusz Klich, Luis Sinisterra, Adam Forshaw, Crysencio Summerville, Cody Drameh.
