Members of The Square Ball podcast and fanzine have organised another summer walk to raise money for charity. Last year a group of more than 100 Leeds United fans managed to raise over £85,000 for mental health charities by walking 92 miles from North Wales to Elland Road.
The three-day walk started at Gary Speed’s first playing field in Aston, Flintshire and organisers are sticking with the same theme this time around as they attempt to repeat the feat. The group plan to walk the same gruelling distance this month, with the journey starting at Goodison Park in Merseyside, the home of Speed’s boyhood club Everton.
They’ll then make their way through Lancashire and through the Pennines to Elland Road over the course of three days, with overnight stays planned for Bolton, Burnley and Halifax. All money raised will go directly to Andy’s Man Club, a charity set up in order to improve mental health in men.

The Yorkshire-based organisation works towards suicide prevention by helping to eliminate the stigma attached to men’s mental health and now has support groups in almost 100 locations around the country. The Square Ball have been working closely with the charity and the money raised last year went a long way towards helping the charity continue its impressive rate of growth.
So far, more than £25,000 has been raised through Go Fund Me in support of the cause. You can donate by clicking here.
