Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips recalled to England squad for Nations League

The season will indeed end on a high note for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips after he has been named in England's squad for the Nations League ahead of their four games in 11 days. Phillips will hope to continue his partnership with Declan Rice after the two impressed at EURO 2020, ahead of the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

The Three Lions games come just days after the penultimate weekend of Premier League football - which saw a dramatic finish to the season for Leeds United as they secured their spot in the Premier League.

There are just two camps remaining before England’s World Cup campaign gets under way against Iran on November 21, in which we'll see a pause in Premier League action for a month, with preparations continuing with four Nations League fixtures in June.

Phillips missed three months of the season with a hamstring injury, and will be relieved to be named in the squad alongside the likes of Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and James Ward-Prowse.

England boss Southgate leads his side to Hungary and Germany next week, before welcoming Euro 2020 final foes Italy and Hungary to Molineux as the national team goes on the road.

The Three Lions boss named his selections for Group A3 fixtures on Tuesday afternoon at Wembley – the first in-person squad unveiling since November 2019.
