Leeds United's Patrick Bamford recognised alongside Liverpool's Mo Salah as Premier League best

It has been a difficult season for Leeds United on the injury front and Marcelo Bielsa has had to deal with a number of issues on and off the pitch.

The Whites currently sit 16th in the table and have won just five of their 21 Premier League matches this term, picking up just 22 points in the process.

Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are amongst the list of players who have been out this season after the duo picked up hamstring problems in 2-2 draw against Brentford.

Luke Ayling, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have also been huge misses at the back, while Joe Gelhardt and Tyler Roberts have struggled for fitness in the last few weeks.

Arguably the biggest absentee is Patrick Bamford and Leeds have suffered as a consequence, scoring fewer goals and are less of a threat inside the six-yard box.

The England international has featured just six times in the top-flight this season and picked up his first major issue in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in September, limping off with an ankle problem.

This forced him to miss almost three months of action as he returned for the game against Brentford and Bamford came on to score a dramatic 95th-minute equaliser.

However, Bamford ended up injuring his hamstring in the celebration which has seen him at least another eight weeks and seven matches of football.

It was a huge blow for both Leeds and the 28-year-old, who has been integral to Bielsa's side since promotion to the top tier last summer, scoring 19 times in 44 appearances.

In actual fact, Bamford is the second-best value for money in the Premier League. He joined the Whites in a £7.1million move from Middlesbrough in 2018 after spells at Derby County and Chelsea.

A research by BingoSites studied the goals scored by forwards who have played a minimum of 38 games in the Premier League to determine which player has proven the best value for money.

Every player was ranked from zero to 10 based on how many goals they have scored per game, and on the size of their fee. These scores were then combined to discover which forward is the biggest 'bargain'.

Leicester City talisman Jamie Vardy comes out on top in this metric, having scored 127 goals in 261 matches across eight seasons in the top-flight, against a £1.12 million fee.

Meanwhile, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is third after netting 111 goals in 165 league matches for Liverpool since joining the club in 2017 - the best goal to game ratio on his list.

In fourth is Norwich City's Teemu Pukki who made the switch on a free transfer from Danish club Brondby and has scored 16 times in 57 top-flight games.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin sits fifth after joining Everton as a 19-year-old in 2016 for a fee of £1.62 million and has bagged 43 goals in 153 matches across six seasons.

Newcastle United's Callum Wilson and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio are also in the top-10 best value for money attackers in the Premier League.
