Leeds United's Luis Sinisterra boost as Jesse Marsch provides Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw updates

Jesse Marsch has high hopes that he will be able to welcome Luis Sinisterra back into full Leeds United training next week. The winger has been missing since October after picking up a Lisfranc issue, but it seems a return to action could be just around the corner.

Sinisterra has been training on his own this week as he continues his recovery, but the head coach is optimistic that he won’t have too long to wait until he’s able to consider the Colombian for selection once more. That will come as a huge boost for the Whites support, who will be hoping Sinisterra can finally build up some momentum in a Leeds shirt moving forward.

The former Feyenoord man has seen his game time restricted to just nine outings this campaign through either injury or suspension, but fans have seen enough to know he can offer plenty to the Whites’ attack.

“He was on the pitch individually today looking really strong sprinting and running and looking close,” Marsch said ahead of the Whites’ FA Cup clash with Cardiff City on Sunday. “Let's see, I don't want to talk too early, but we're hopeful that at some point next week, he's back in training. So that's really positive. He won’t be ready this weekend.”

The head coach also gave updates on Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw, who are both likely to miss the trip to South Wales this weekend, while revealing that Stuart Dallas has making progress after going under the knife once more. However, Marsch also suggested that Leeds could be without a few more key names this weekend through minor problems.

“We have a lot of guys that we're hopeful that they can turn around but have a lot of little issues,” Marsch said while detailing his pre-Cardiff injury news. “So I'm not going to give you full updates and I’m hopeful that some of the questionable guys can turn around and be ready to go.

“We want to put a strong team on the pitch. We know 6000 fans are going down, I know the history of us losing 21 years ago at Cardiff, and we expect that there'll be a very spirited for this match. So we want to put the best team we can on the pitch.

“Patrick was in training today. So that was a big step in the right direction. Not predicting him to be ready for the match, but at least in training, Adam would probably not be available for this match, but shouldn't be training next week.

“Stuart had a follow up operation, too, because they thought they had a little bit of an infection so they just cleaned that out but he's back and feeling good.”
