Leeds United won’t be looking to ‘hijack’ Celtic’s push to reappoint Brendan Rodgers this summer, contrary to reports. The Daily Record reported on Tuesday night that Leeds were making a late push to secure Rodgers, who was sacked by Leicester City in early April, but it is understood the Whites will be pursuing other options in their hunt to find a new man.
Rodgers, it seems, is close to agreeing terms with Celtic, in a move that would see him return to Glasgow four years after initially leaving the club. That’s according to The Guardian, who claim the Bhoys are confident of securing the Northern Irishman’s services after losing Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
Leeds were said to be keen on taking Rodgers to Elland Road, despite always being seen as an ambitious option for their vacant head coach role. However, it has become clear that Rodgers does not intend to drop down to the second tier of English football in order to find work, favouring a return to Celtic.
The Whites will continue their search for a new manager with former Norwich City man Daniel Farke and current West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan considered the favourites for the gig with the bookmakers. The recruitment process and interviews for the position will continue this week and the club will hope to be in a position to appoint someone within the next week or so.

Leeds have just over seven weeks remaining to prepare for the start of the new Championship and with pre-season due to get underway in early July, time is of the essence. Leeds are yet to make any moves in the transfer window and, in the absence of a director football, they will be keen to have a manager in place before signings are made.
