Leeds United pre-season details and which players Jesse Marsch could be working with first

Five weeks after delivering Premier League safety at Brentford, Leeds United will return for pre-season on Monday. While those players on the back of international commitments will have more time to rest, the bulk of the squad is expected back in West Yorkshire.

Junior Firpo, Robin Koch, Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo, Pascal Struijk, Jack Harrison, Lewis Bate, Joe Gelhardt, Stuart McKinstry, Sam Greenwood, Jamie Shackleton and Marc Roca are some of the names who have not had international matches this summer.

Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are recovering from their injuries, while Adam Forshaw and Crysencio Summerville should be fit to train, though it’s unclear where they are at in their recoveries after season-ending injuries a few months ago.

Illan Meslier, Liam Cooper, Raphinha, Kristoffer Klaesson, Diego Llorente, Daniel James, Kalvin Phillips, Leo Hjelde, Charlie Cresswell, Mateusz Klich, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen all played international games at some level after the domestic term finished.

This could very much be seen as day one for Marsch with an opportunity to start from a clean slate and build this group into exactly what he wants to see on the field. Thorp Arch will of course be the base for much of the preparation, but last summer there was testing at Leeds Beckett University too.

The squad will have roughly two weeks in the UK before jetting out to Australia for three friendlies across eight days. There are expected to be domestic friendlies on either side of the trip Down Under too.
