Leeds United (4-2-3-1)
1 Illan Meslier
Came for several balls and did not look convincing on many of them with him off his goal-line. Punched one or two clearances when he could have just as easily caught it. Still, kept his sheet clean. 6
25 Rasmus Kristensen
Much better. Noticeably higher up the field than in previous weeks as Aston Villa gifted space in wide areas. Not always with the quality needed in the final third, but no mistakes in his own third, crucially. 7
5 Robin Koch
Another better-than-solid performance in defence from Koch. Continues to make very good decisions with and without the ball. The little errors his team-mates are sometimes guilty of are not in his game at the moment. 7

6 Liam Cooper (c)
A clean sheet and an important voice without Jesse Marsch on the sidelines and a referee losing control. However, there were one or two rusty mistakes from the skipper. Really put in a superb shift down the home straight with some huge headers under pressure. 7
21 Pascal Struijk
Leon Bailey barely had any change out of the full-back all day. Not especially in the thick of the action, but as a defender with a clean sheet that's no bad thing. 7
12 Tyler Adams
Much less time on the ball than in some games. Philippe Coutinho and Bailey did tuck in behind Ollie Watkins at times and that kept the American under pressure throughout. The Brazilian playmaker did not start to pull strings until the red card, which is a plus for Adams. 7
8 Marc Roca
Just as combative as Adams. Didn't see the long-range passing we normally see from the Spaniard. 6
23 Luis Sinisterra
Some decent carries from the Colombian, but as has been the case in the last few matches, he's never in the thick of the action for a prolonged period of time. His first yellow card was a mistake from Stuart Attwell, but he should not have thrown a daft leg out like he did to block the second-half free-kick. 5
7 Brenden Aaronson
Kept plugging away, but not a day where openings fell for him in an attacking sense. 5
11 Jack Harrison
Passing accuracy was well down where he would want it. Didn't bother Villa's defence before or after the dismissal. 5
19 Rodrigo
Lots of running and effort, as well as one decent effort from range, but looked smothered in attack and isolated. Rusty one-two attempts. 5
Substitutes
13 Kristoffer Klaesson
2 Luke Ayling (on for Kristensen 68min)
Hard to impact the way he did at Brentford with the team a man down, but steady. Pulled out of position once or twice. 6
3 Junior Firpo (on for Roca 58min)
Didn't see him attacking the space down the left as Marsch may have wanted with that substitution. Some of the awkward challenges we saw last season, but fine. 6
9 Patrick Bamford (on for Rodrigo 68min)
Not much to work with. Back to goal and dropping deep a lot. One decent run towards the byline with a shot that forced a parry. 6
10 Crysencio Summerville (on for Harrison 79min)
Needed to do a lot of defending off the ball. N/A
14 Diego Llorente
29 Wilfried Gnonto
42 Sam Greenwood
43 Mateusz Klich (on for Aaronson 79min)
No real chances to get his foot on the ball and influence anything. N/A
