Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Monday, 4 July 2022.
Adams deal progressing
Leeds United’s pursuit of Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams is ‘progressing quickly’ according to journalist Ben Jacobs. He claims that Adams is very keen on the move and a deal now could be done for as little as £10 million following Xavier Schlager’s arrival at Leipzig.
Leeds are in the market for a new holding midfielder with Kalvin Phillips’ move to Manchester City likely to be confirmed today. There have also been links to RB Salzburg’s Mohamed Camara, with Austrian outlets claiming a deal is close to completion.
Koch on pre-season
Leeds United defender Robin Koch believes pre-season will prove to be an ‘important’ time for the squad to get to grips with Jesse Marsch’s methods. Marsch arrived at Elland Road in February with the task of keeping Leeds in the Premier League, which he achieved thanks to a final-day victory at Brentford.

Given the pressure of the situation, though, the final few months of the season proved to be a difficult time for Marsch to fully stamp his philosophy on his new side. However, with a number of weeks on the training ground, and friendlies against various standard of opposition – including two Premier League teams – there is no better time than now to do so.
He said: “Of course, this is now a good time for us to prepare the new season. Even with the coach to get a little bit more time to improve some of our plays.
“Last season when he plays there was a lot of pressure as we needed results. Now we have more time to go through more things, his ideas of playing football. This is quite important for us now.”

Forest eye O’Brien
Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Lewis O’Brien, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, as they look to prepare for a return to the Premier League after 23 years. The Huddersfield Town midfielder has been heavily linked with Leeds United since last summer, with the club reportedly tabling a bid of £8million but refusing to match the Terrier’s £10million valuation.
Interest in the 23-year-old regained momentum after the Whites secured their Premier League status with a final day win at Brentford, but quickly cooled as Victor Orta looked elsewhere. He and Leeds instead focused their attention on Marc Roca, who signed from Bayern Munich for £10million.
