Leeds United news: Illan Meslier linked with Chelsea as Tyler Adams frustrates England

Your Leeds United headlines for Saturday, November 26.

Meslier linked with move

Chelsea are "keeping tabs" on Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, according to reports. The Frenchman still has three-and-a-half years left on his contract at Elland Road, so would command a considerable fee.

Originally signed on loan from Lorient in 2019, the Whites made his move permanent the following season and Meslier has established himself as the firm number-one choice ever since. However, journalist Simon Phillips suggests Graham Potter & Co are interested in his services.

“It does seem though that first instincts from Chelsea were Meslier is just a player they had been considering," he said. "The collective belief is that he would not be ready/good enough for Chelsea. However, these things can always change, and Meslier is certainly a player that Chelsea are keeping tabs on currently.”

Duo frustrate England

Leeds duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson starred as the United States ground out a 0-0 draw with England. Frustrations were shared across the country last night as the Three Lions failed to perform on the big stage.

Summer signing Adams - appointed USA captain ahead of the tournament - was arguably man of the match as his midfield discipline unsettled England. Aaronson featured from the bench for the second time at the World Cup.

Sinisterra message

Luis Sinisterra has revealed he still keeps well up to date with former club Feyenoord's fortunes In a recent interview with Dutch outlet Soccer News, the 23-year-old revealed that he would not rule out a return to Feyenoord in the future..

"Hopefully this will be my home forever. I’m not saying bye, but see you later," Sinisterra said. "Maybe I’ll come back in the future. I’d love it if that happened, but it was time for the next step in my career. I wish the team a great season. They’re doing great. I wish everyone the best.

"I try to stay informed as much as possible [about Feyenoord] and to follow as many matches as possible. Sometimes that’s difficult, because we often play around the same time, but I always check the app."

Marsch praise

BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey has spoken of his admiration for Jesse Marsch and he’d love to indulge in a deep dive into his innerworkings. He said: “If you were to ask me the most vociferous support in the Premier League I think I would put Newcastle and Leeds right up at the top. The passion in that city (Leeds) for that football club is second to none. I really like Jesse Marsch, I’d love to get Jesse Marsch to come on the podcast and have a chat with us.

“I think the Premier League needs Leeds United and Leeds deserve to be in the Premier League. They are a proper, proper football club with incredible support. I know that things aren’t easy (with the club involved in a relegation battle last season) but this is an example of how frantically driven the Premier League is.

Fans puzzled by Keown

Leeds United supporters are baffled by Martin Keown’s latest observation about their club. Working as a co-commentator for Brazil vs Serbia, the former Arsenal defender questioned Raphinha’s heroics at Elland Road.

The ex-Gunners defender is not sold on Raphinha’s time with the Whites. He said this on commentary during Brazil's opener against Serbia: "You look at Raphinha, was he really that good at Leeds? Then he puts on a Brazil shirt and he's world class."
