Leeds United set to lose Wilfried Gnonto to 'keen' rivals amid relegation battle
Leeds United could be set to lose star youngster Wilfried Gnonto to a 'keen' Todd Boehly and Chelsea if they end up being relegated at the end of the season. The 19-year-old has already made a name for himself as one of the brightest young stars in the Premier League, having scored four goals and found three assists in his 25 matches in all competitions for Leeds so far.
Also with a future in Roberto Mancini's plans for the Italian national team, Gnonto has attracted major attention from big European clubs who squandered a chance to sign him in the summer before the Whites, namely both AC Mlian and Inter Milan. But now with relegation from England's top-flight on the cards, it's possible that historical rivals Chelsea could be set to swoop in and lead him to Stamford Bridge as the window opens.
"Definitely if they [Leeds] go down," talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook told GIVEMESPORT earlier this week. "I was told Chelsea are keen on him. He’s a raw talent, but he's shown that he can do it in the Premier League. There are clubs in Italy that like him as well. So yeah, I think there's a big chance Wilfried Gnonto could go.”
Javi Gracia's message to Patrick Bamford following costly Leeds United miss
Javi Gracia says it's important Patrick Bamford stays "mentally strong" during the Premier League climax after he missed a gilt-edged chance in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Leicester City. Bamford was presented with a golden opportunity to take all three points in the dying stages at Elland Road, but fluffed his lines with the goal at his mercy.
The miss highlighted both his lack of form and confidence at the moment, but Gracia insists the Leeds United forward must maintain a strong mindset as the Whites aim to stave off relegation.
Leeds United's best and worst-case scenarios ahead of this weekend's relegation twists and turns
Leeds United ended a run of three straight defeats by drawing 1-1 against fellow relegation rivals Leicester City at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Javi Gracia's men now head into the final five games just one-point clear of danger, and travel to a Bournemouth side, who have collected five wins from their last eight in the Premier League. However, Leeds won the reverse fixture 4-3 at Elland Road having come from two goals behind to stage a stunning comeback.
