Leeds United take social media dig at Roy Keane with 'Strictly' comment
Leeds United have taken a subtle dig at ITV Sport pundit Roy Keane after his comments surrounding Brazil's celebrations in their Round of 16 match against South Korea when he compared it to BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing.
Keane's outburst came after Brazil put four goals past the Koreans in the opening 36 minutes of their knockout stage match at this year's World Cup in Qatar and after each goal came a choreographed dance between the players - even manager Tite got involved after Tottenham's Richarlison made it 3-0.
"I can't believe what I'm watching, it's like watching Strictly", Keane said. "I really can't. Brazil, fantastic. South Korea, my goodness. I don't like this.
"I know Eni [Aluko] has made the point about culture and it is, but I think that's really disrespecting your opposition because it's 4-0 and you're doing it every time.
"I don't mind one after the first little jig - or whatever they're doing - but then the manager gets involved. No, I'm not happy with that."
Late last night, the Whites posted a video of Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto dancing with each other in the gym, with the caption "It's like watching Strictly' with a dancing man emoji - word for word what Keane said about Brazil.
Forshaw opens up on Marsch chats behind fresh attempt to curb Leeds United injuries
Injuries have become the narrative around Adam Forshaw in the past three years and even the Leeds United midfielder admits he’s starting to sound like a broken record. However, a comeback against Elche tonight is hopefully the start of a new, curbed approach to training.
The 31-year-old sat out of his first training session for three weeks yesterday as he allowed his body a little more time to settle before the friendly tonight. A full-blooded approach to every aspect of his game has defined his career up to now, but with guidance from Jesse Marsch, he is trying to calm it down outside matches.
“I was speaking to Jesse about it yesterday and it’s something I’ve got to curb a little bit, especially in training,” he said. “Not in games, but, like yesterday, I just didn’t train for the day to save myself for tonight and I need people to tell me that because I would have trained."
Germany's World Cup nightmare could create a fresh opportunity for Leeds defender Robin Koch
Leeds United defender Robin Koch last played for Germany over 18 months ago but their humiliating exit at the World Cup could offer him a potential lifeline.
Germany's defence in particular came under heavy criticism after Hansi Flick's side succumbed to back-to-back group stage exits for the first time in history.
Niklas Sule was shoehorned into a right-back position, which he has admittedly played in Borussia Dortmund, but looked nor impressive or comfortable in throughout the tournament.
Nico Schlotterbeck, a huge prospect when he earned a lucrative move to Borussia Dortmund back in the summer, also endured an awful experience in Qatar.
