Leeds United news as Whites loanee set for final chance under Jose Mourinho after Serie A struggles

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, March 28.

Diego Llorente given 'last chance' to 'build foundations' amid Roma struggles

Leeds United loanee Diego Llorente will have his last chance to 'redeem himself' at AS Roma in order to secure a future away from Elland Road over the next few weeks.

That is according to Italian outlet RomaToday, who claim that manager Jose Mourinho is likely to give the 29-year-old one final chance in the starting XI following the poor form of Marash Kumbulla.

The Whites defender is expected to start at the weekend against Sampdoria, where he could start to 'build the foundations' for a possible transfer over the next few months.

He was sent to the Serie A on loan with an option to buy for £16m, but it's looking increasingly unlikely that the Italian outfit will choose that option considering he's only played 72 minutes of football since the January move.

Doubt cast over Thomas Partey fitness ahead of Leeds United clash

Thomas Partey will fly back to London having missed Ghana's 1-1 draw against Angola in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Monday due to injury.

Partey is expected back in the capital on Tuesday where Arsenal will assess his injury ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal midfielder had completed the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over the same opposition last Thursday, but felt a problem in his right leg during training on Sunday.

Weston McKennie produces key moment as USA book their place in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-final

Leeds United midfielder Weston McKennie set-up Ricardo Pepi's winning goal for the United States in a 1-0 win over El Salvador in Orlando.

USA booked their place in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals by extending their unbeaten run in the competition to four games.

Gio Reyna twice came close either side of half-time. His first strike had El Salvador goalkeeper Mario Martinez scrambling to palm the ball behind, while his second came crashing off the inside of the near post.
