Leeds United news as Whites issued with warning over 'carrying players' after Brighton defeat

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday, August 28.

'Non-existent' Harrison

Michael Dawson says Leeds winger Jack Harrison was 'non-existent' in the Whites' defeat at Brighton. Harrison failed to make the same sort of impact as he did in his first three games of the season, as Leeds fell to a 1-0 loss in Sussex.

The 25-year-old was the star man in the Whites' statement win against Chelsea last weekend, but he didn't hit the same levels against Brighton.

“[Illan] Meslier made two or three saves that were top class to keep them in the game," Dawson said on Soccer Saturday. "The second half changed, of course it did, because Leeds couldn’t be any worse than they were in the first half.

“Leeds made substitutions, they were disappointing. Jack Harrison, a big player for them last week, magnificent, but he was non-existent today, he really, really was. And Leeds can’t have that performance because they’re not good enough to carry players."

Potter praises 'top coach' Marsch

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has admitted that he has “huge respect” for Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch whilst labelling him as “a top coach” who has “had a fantastic career.”

Speaking to the media after Brighton's win, the Englishman was full of praise for the Leeds boss, saying: “Jesse's done a really good job and they're [Leeds] hard to play against. So we had to suffer a little bit but, overall I think deserved the win.

“Leeds defend really well, they're a really well organised team. You can see from the game against Chelsea, fantastic. Their press, they're so hard to play against, not easy to play through."

Lampard reveals Leeds fear

Everton head coach Frank Lampard has admitted that the Toffees’ trip to Elland Road on Tuesday evening will be ‘tough’ with Leeds United looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat at Brighton.

The Whites were subject to their first loss of the season, losing 1-0 at the AMEX Stadium with a second-half strike from Pascal Gross proving the difference between the two sides in what was a below-par match from Jesse Marsch’s side.

Speaking to Everton TV about the upcoming match after his side’s 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday afternoon, Lampard said: “[We] understand that it’s going to be a tough night, a big atmosphere at Leeds. Every game is tough in this Premier League, we know that so you can definitely see big signs that we’re getting better."
