Leeds handed transfer boost in race for Italian left-back
Leeds have been handed a potential transfer boost in their quest to sign Empoli left-back Fabiano Parisi. Lazio are also interested in the Italy U21 international, although their president Claudio Lotito has admitted that they will need to sell players, before any news faces arrive at the Stadio Olimpico.

"The market in January? We will see what to do with [Maurizio] Sarri," Lotito revealed in an interview with Il Messaggero (via HITC). "Parisi or [Emanuele] Valeri. For left-back, someone has to leave [before a new signing arrives].
In September, Parisi's agent Mario Giuffredi confirmed that Leeds were among a number of clubs interested in his client. Leeds are currently thin on the ground at left-back, as Pascal Struijk has filled the void in the absence of Junior Firpo for much of the season.
Although Firpo has since returned from injury, the Spaniard has failed to impress since his switch from Barcelona in the summer of 2021. Parisi has started all 11 games for Empoli in Serie A this term - registering three clean sheets and scoring his first top-flight goal in a 1-1 draw at Lecce in August.
Jack Harrison admits Liverpool surprise as he details importance of finding Leeds United 'solutions'
Jack Harrison admits seeing Liverpool lose against Nottingham Forest last weekend was a surprise and is expecting a difficult game this weekend. Jurgen Klopp's Reds have struggled on the road but are still unbeaten in the Premier League at home.
Despite their poor form on the road, Liverpool beat Manchester City and West Ham 1-0 in their last two home outings. They bounced back from disappointment at the City Ground by defeating Ajax 3-0 in the Champions League.
“It was definitely a surprise,” Harrison told Leeds United. “You look at the squad and the team they’ve got, I don’t have to say anything really."
Predicted Leeds United line-up vs Liverpool as Jesse Marsch decides on six doubts
With Leeds United out of form and several 50-50 selection calls for Jesse Marsch to make away at a Premier League giant, it’s next to impossible to predict what line-up he ends up with. If we assume all of the questionable injury doubts are ruled out for the sake of argument, it at least gives us a solid core of players to pick from.
The backline revolves around how Marsch wants to use Diego Llorente or Junior Firpo, if at all. Neither has played at a consistently high level since arriving at Elland Road and Marsch may have some reservations about them, especially at Anfield.
The extreme option could be to utilise Luke Ayling in the centre with Robin Koch, making space for Rasmus Kristensen at right-back and Pascal Struijk at left-back. However, one look at the tape from Liverpool away last season will show Marsch how Ayling struggled in that berth.
