A round-up of the latest Leeds United headlines on Friday, 25 November.
Leeds United hold World Cup advantage over Premier League rivals
Leeds United are being tipped to come out of the Premier League traps flying. That's the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, who believes Jesse Marsch's side will benefit from not having a lot of players at the World Cup in Qatar.
Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and Rasmus Kristensen are the only Whites' players involved at the tournament this winter. Leaving the majority to recover at Thorp Arch and take on board new ideas from the head coach.
“Having a lot of players at the World Cup could end up being detrimental for these other sides," Campbell told Football Insider. “Especially for these players who aren’t going to get a lot of minutes.
“They’ll have to come back and get up to match speed again. Jesse Marsch having most of his players together, he will see that as a positive.
“They’ll be training hard and playing games, learning more about each other. I just think for the likes of Leeds, this will just allow them to come out the traps a lot better in the second half of the season.
“I like what this team are doing. It doesn’t work out all the time, but they’re good to watch.”
How to watch Leeds United players in World Cup action today
Three Leeds United players will be in action at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar during today's four fixtures. Daniel James, who is on loan at Fulham from Leeds, could be in action when Wales face Iran in the opening match.
He started in Wales' 1-1 draw against the United States on Monday, which saw him pitted against fellow Leeds teammates Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams for the Star and Stripes.
USA will conclude Friday evening with their hotly-anticipated clash against England. Here is everything you need to know about how to watch every World Cup match on Friday.
Leeds United mid-season ratings as Tyler Adams impact felt in early transfer window endorsement
Leeds United have had an up and down Premier League season so far. The Whites started so brightly with wins coming over Wolves and Chelsea, but their form tailed off after that, going eight games without a win.
The remarkable victory at Liverpool bucked that streak, though, and a win over Bournemouth followed at the start of November. Jesse Marsch’s side couldn’t build on that at Tottenham Hotspur last time out, unfortunately, losing 4-3 after taking the lead three times in the game.
Some players have really caught the eye this season so far, while others have struggled to get going and find form. With the Premier League taking a break for the World Cup, Leeds Live provide their player ratings for the season so far.
Tales from the Bay - Complacency the next threat as all-action 49ers begin to take flight
The San Francisco 49ers are back in control of the NFC West and appear to be discovering their best form at exactly the right time having surged to the top of their division with a dominant victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
While the 49ers’ minority ownership of Leeds United has yet to see them grace Elland Road, San Francisco turned Estadio Azteca – the cathedral of Mexican football – into a second home on Monday.
Niners fans filled the stands in Mexico City, where the Cardinals were supposed to be the designated home team for the final international game of the NFL season, and they were rewarded with arguably San Francisco’s finest performance of the campaign.
Three left-back targets Leeds United could go for in January
A new left-back is expected to be one of the main priorities for Leeds United when the transfer window reopens in January.
Pascal Struijk filled the void excellently for the injured Junior Firpo at the start of the season, and has retained his position since Firpo's return to fitness.
Firpo has struggled since his arrival from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, and Leeds' failure to land a left-back in the previous window has left them thin on the ground. With the January transfer window edging closer, LeedsLive have taken a look at the possible options available to Jesse Marsch during the winter.
