Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Friday, 9 December 2022.
Klich interest
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is reportedly attracting interest from several MLS clubs including DC United. That is according to Polish journalist Piotr Koźmiński, who claims that Belgian side Royal Antwerp are also keen with a winter transfer looking 'likely'.
Klich rolled back the years in last night's friendly win over Elche as he curled a superb late effort into the top corner to put Leeds 2-1 ahead, with Jesse Marsch admitting after the game he is unsure what the future holds for the 32-year-old. He has struggled for game time this season with just 188 minutes of Premier League football under his belt, which cost him a place in Poland's World Cup squad.
Injury update
Glandular fever stands between Illan Meslier and Leeds United’s clash with Manchester City later this month, though Jesse Marsch remains hopeful the squad’s injury issues will clear before that match. Crysencio Summerville and Sonny Perkins were the latest United players to limp off with issues in the win over Elche on Thursday night.

While Leeds were missing Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson for their friendly because of the World Cup, Meslier, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford were the other starters absent through illness and injury. Junior Firpo and Diego Llorente, both in Spain, were also missing from the match.
“Illan: you guys call it glandular fever, we call it mono,” said Marsch. “We're trying to be safe with him, but also measure him appropriately and see."

Player ratings
22 Joel Robles
One good stop early in the first half as Elche began to assert themselves. Not a huge amount he could do with the opening goal. Distribution was a little rushed and without success at times. Another good save into the latter stages of the second half as Elche came on again. 7
2 Luke Ayling
Didn't offer the team any width in attacking through the first half. Kept getting sucked into the middle and leaving a free attacker over his shoulder. Passing was poor. 5
6 Liam Cooper (c)
Repeatedly caught out with passes in behind him. Looked sluggish, off the pace and turned too easily time after time. 5
