Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Wednesday, August 31.
Southampton still working to sign Leeds target
Leeds' Premier League rivals Southampton are still working on a deal to sign target Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven before tomorrow's transfer deadline, according to The Athletic.
The Dutch winger, who scored 21 goals in 46 games last season, has been previously linked to Jesse Marsch's side as well as numerous other Premier League clubs, however, it appears as though the Saints are leading the race for the 23-year-old's signature.
Although leading the race, 'Southampton will, however, only consider a deal for Gakpo if it remains reasonable and are not willing to overstretch themselves in pursuit of the 23-year-old.'
Whites winger could depart Elland Road this window
Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are back in negotiations with the Whites as they look to sign Dan James.
He tweeted: "Tottenham are back in negotiations with Leeds for Daniel James. Been told talks are ongoing on loan deal with buy option — but there are also other clubs...
"#THFC Up to the player, as he’s happy @ Leeds and has to decide."
Leeds offer for Wolves forward rejected
Leeds have enquired and seen an informal proposal of £17m for Wolves forward Hee-Chan Hwang rejected by the West Midlands club, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
The South Korean worked with Marsch for a brief spell at RB Leipzig with the American reportedly keen to reunite with the 26-year-old, who only joined Wolves permanently as recently as January.
"“I know him very well," the Leeds boss said. "I like him, he knows our football. He’s on our list, I can tell you that.”
