Leeds United news as Whites' Arnaud Kalimuendo bid 'falls short' of PSG valuation

A round-up of Leeds United headlines this morning on Monday, 11 July.

Leeds United fall short of PSG Kalimuendo valuation

According to the latest from L’Equipe , Leeds United have missed PSG's valuation of Arnud Kalimuendo by just €4million. The Ligue 1 giants value the striker at £21million, after the Whites reportedly submitted a €17million bid for the striker.

The 20-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan with RC Lens in Ligue 1, scoring eight goals and assisted six others in his first season, the 2020/21 campaign. Last term, he found the back of the net 13 times to improve his tally, but did not register a single assist.

Jesse Marsch is understandably keen to get more bodies in at Elland Road to bolster their attacking options, after a year of struggle in front of goal. The Whites have brought in Luis Sinisterra in an attempt to add more creativity to their front line, but risk losing Raphinha to Barcelona.

New Raphinha bid puts Barcelona in driving seat

Barcelona have reportedly submitted a fresh offer for Raphinha that meets Leeds United's valuation of the player. The Daily Mail claims the Spanish giants have won the race to sign the playmaker in a deal worth £63m.

The Whites' winger is understood to favour a move to the La Liga side despite a bid from Chelsea being the only offer to meet Leeds' valuation. Thomas Tuchel's side had a bid of £55m plus £8m in add ons accepted by the Whites hierarchy but the Brazilian has had his heart set on a move to Barcelona.

Financial problems have so far played their part in slowing a proposed move, but with Raphinha being left out of Jesse Marsch's squad to travel to Australia, it seems he's set for move away from Elland Road this summer. Xavi's side have sold some of their TV rights in an attempt to bring in some funds so they can operate in the transfer market this summer.

Leeds United could rely on Man United to seal Raphinha Barcelona windfall

Leeds United could rely on a favour from rivals Manchester United if Raphinha's move to Barcelona is going to progress. Raphinha is set to leave Elland Road this summer, with Barcelona and Chelsea both interested in the winger.

Barcelona are keen on the Brazilian international, but reports suggest that the Catalan club don't want to pay the fee for Raphinha until next year, and even then it will be paid in instalments.

Bizarrely, Manchester United could have a key role to play in getting the wheels moving on Raphinha's move to the Spanish giants. inews have suggested that Barcelona may need to sell Frenkie de Jong to the Red Devils to free up funds to seal a deal for Raphinha. De Jong has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, in a move which would see him link up with old boss Erik ten Hag.
