Leeds United news as USMNT legend says Tyler Adams is 'blowing everyone off the charts'

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Monday 3 October.

Eric Wynalda's high praise to Leeds United's Tyler Adams

USMNT legend Eric Wynalda admits he has been blown away by the recent performances of Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

Adams arrived at Elland Road this summer from RB Leipzig and has slotted in seamlessly into the heart of Leeds' midfield alongside Marc Roca.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has played every minute of every Premier League game under Jesse Marsch.

And Wynalda, who won 100 international caps has been left impressed by Adams' outstanding work rate which Leeds fans have already become accustomed to.

"If you’ve been an American who's been paying attention to the metrics of all of this and we include science in a lot of the things we do, Tyler Adams is blowing everyone off the charts," said Wynalda when speaking to VegasInsider.

"There’s nobody even close miles covered, to races won, to how many touches that he has, tackles that he’s engaged in.

"Whether he’s won them all is a different story but this kid doesn’t stop moving. He doesn’t stop running. There’s nothing like him. I haven’t seen anything like him in a long time.

"That’s the reason he wears the captain's band every once in a while for the US."

Marsch needs long overdue Leeds United proof to execute Sinisterra replacement plan

The fallout from Stuart Attwell’s rotten Elland Road turn will stretch into this weekend when Leeds United line up at Crystal Palace on Sunday. Luis Sinisterra’s daft block on an Aston Villa free-kick will see him suspended this weekend and thus deprive Jesse Marsch of arguably his best attacker.

Thankfully, the suspension comes at a time when the squad is in a decent spot with injuries and there are various routes the head coach can go down with his team selection.

The overarching debate for Marsch seems to be whether he looks at a direct replacement or moving about several players to accommodate a new face.

The obvious route many people will look to is Patrick Bamford. The number nine needs to be on the pitch as much as possible and finding a way to get him into the line-up is going to be many fans’ preference.

However, that then raises questions over whether or not Bamford is fully match fit. Our own Beren Cross sets out what Marsch could do in Sinisterra's absence.

Marsch clarifies Gelhardt decision as Leeds United forward faces battle

Joe Gelhardt looks set to feature for Leeds United Under-21s on Tuesday night after dropping out of Jesse Marsch’s matchday squad on Sunday.

Gelhardt wasn’t involved against Aston Villa in the Whites 0-0 Sunday afternoon draw at Elland Road. The youngster was at Elland Road, though, and could be seen working with the club's fitness coach on the pitch prior to kick off.

His outing appeared to be a late fitness test as he completed a small amount of running drills before heading back down the tunnel.

However, Marsch has revealed there was no concern regarding Gelhardt, with his appearance on the pitch simply an effort to keep him sharp after dropping out of the starting XI and being overlooked for a bench spot.

Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford were the attackers chosen to be substitutes on Sunday, while Rodrigo returned to the side after overcoming a shoulder injury.
