Leeds United news as Tyler Roberts' loan dilemma explained amid Luis Sinisterra injury boost

Here are your latest Leeds United evening headlines for Friday, January 6.

Tyler Roberts' loan dilemma explained as Neil Critchley targets January signings

Queens Park Rangers do not have the option of terminating Tyler Roberts' loan agreement, after the Leeds forward passed the threshold of 15 games.

Roberts has scored just twice across all competitions for QPR, and has also been plagued by injuries during his loan spell at Loftus Road. Neil Critchley is reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace youngster Malcolm Ebiowei on loan, but a deal to sign him is not straightforward.

QPR already have four players on loan, and a Championship club can only name a maximum of five loan players in a match day squad, and their priority is to bring in a striker.

According to West London Sport, QPR are considering Bournemouth forward Jamal Lowe, and Burnley marksman Ashley Barnes as potential loan options.

However, as QPR have no option to terminate his loan, Critchley is believed to be keen on keeping Roberts and getting the best out of the Wales international. QPR have an obligation to buy Taylor Richards, who is currently on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, and if they choose to exercise that option in January, then it could free up more slots for loan signings.

Leeds United's Luis Sinisterra boost as Jesse Marsch provides Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw updates

Jesse Marsch has high hopes that he will be able to welcome Luis Sinisterra back into full Leeds United training next week. The winger has been missing since October after picking up a Lisfranc issue, but it seems a return to action could be just around the corner.

Sinisterra has been training on his own this week as he continues his recovery, but the head coach is optimistic that he won’t have too long to wait until he’s able to consider the Colombian for selection once more. That will come as a huge boost for the Whites support, who will be hoping Sinisterra can finally build up some momentum in a Leeds shirt moving forward.

The former Feyenoord man has seen his game time restricted to just nine outings this campaign through either injury or suspension, but fans have seen enough to know he can offer plenty to the Whites’ attack.

Jesse Marsch and Leeds United told they should have 'no problems' against Cardiff City

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has said Leeds United will face 'no problems' when they travel down to the Cardiff City Stadium this weekend as they try and make the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Cardiff City.

Jesse Marsch's men have had a tough return to life back in the Premier League after the winter break but with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against high-flyers Newcastle United and a 2-2 draw against West Ham in midweek, a Championship opponent could prove to give the Whites some respite.

While writing for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton highlighted that Leeds shouldn't have an issue with the fixture as long as they play at their 'usual intensity'.
