Leeds United news as Sonny Perkins' 'massive impact' at Elland Road hailed after England hat-trick

A round-up of the latest Leeds United headlines on Sunday, 25 September.

Sonny Perkins' 'massive impact' at Leeds United

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has hailed the impact Sonny Perkins has had at the club since singing from West Ham earlier this summer. The England youth international scored a hattrick for England U19s on Saturday as the Young Lions defeated Georgia.

"This is why you bring in these youngsters from other clubs," he told Football Insider. "You’re just hoping they hit the ground running, which he obviously has. He’s made a massive impact – settled in very quickly and found his feet.

'Massive talent' - Leeds United supporters react to Sonny Perkins 33-minute England hat-trick

Leeds United attacker Sonny Perkins continued his superb start to the season with a hattrick for England U19s on Saturday. Perkins netted three goals in the first half to help the Young Lions on their way to a 6-0 win over Georgia.

The 18-year-old has been in scintillating form since his move from West Ham in the summer, netting in every game so far this season. Perkins has six goals in five matches for the Whites, and has netted in both games during this month’s international duty too.

Leeds now have a plethora of young attacking talent coming through the ranks at Thorp Arch and Perkins could well be the next to break into the first team.
