Here are the latest Leeds United headlines on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Potential transfer blow
Among the names believed to be in the frame for a Leeds United switch this summer is Manchester United forward Amad Diallo. The 20-year-old winger is reportedly a target for the Whites, who are yet to appoint a manager but have begun exploring their transfer options.
The Red Devils will take a look at the player in pre-season with Man Utd manager Erik ten Haag Diallo set to cast his eye over a player who impressed on loan at Sunderland last season. Ten Haag will decide what to do next with a player who cost his club a starting fee of £20m when arriving from Atalanta.
There is a chance Diallo impresses and stays in the first team squad at Old Trafford, however a loan move is widely expected for the player. The trouble for Leeds is news is emerging from Manchester to suggest the club would prefer the player moved to a Premier League club if possible so they can see his progress in the top flight.
Having played in the Championship last year, Ten Haag wants to see Diallo challenged at a high level to see if it brings him on even more.

Takeover delay explained
Hieran Maguire says the lack of progress in the takeover at Leeds United is not the fault of the EFL, with the football finance expert placing the blame at the door of 49ers Enterprises or the outgoing owner Andrea Radrizzani.
Hopes were raised that completion would be imminent when the club released a statement almost a month ago confirming that an agreement had been reached between Radrizzani’s Aser Ventures and the 49ers Enterprises for the purchase of the club.
The EFL will officially ratify the deal and Maguire says the hold-up is the fault of one of the two parties and not the league.
"The delays in terms of the Leeds United takeover are not being caused by the EFL,” he told Football Insider. "We’ve seen in other deals such as in the sale of Wigan and Huddersfield Town that if all parties are in alignment a deal can go through in a matter of days rather than weeks or months."
Tyler Adams interest
Leeds United are understood to have slapped a £40m price tag on Tyler Adams, but it doesn't seem to have warned off the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa, two serious contenders for the player's signature. Now, according to the Daily Mail, the Hammers have made an approach for Adams.
It's understood no offer is on the table yet, but it shows the wheels have finally started to move around what will be Leeds' big transfer saga of the coming weeks. The report claims that the Hammers are also interested in Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, Southampton’s James-Ward-Prowse and Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes, with David Moyes keeping his options open.
