Leeds United news as Man United receive double injury boost as Bielsa issues Dallas update

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Friday, 18 February.

Man United double boost

Manchester United have received a double injury boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leeds United with the return of both Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani to training.

After initially being selected to start in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Brighton, Varane was forced to pull out in the warm-up due to illness.

Cavani, meanwhile, has missed the last two matches with a groin strain and will provide Ralf Rangnick with another attacking option.

Out of the two, it appears that Varane is the most likely of the two to start as he is their first-choice centre-back when fit.

Bielsa’s team news

Marcelo Bielsa has refused to rule Stuart Dallas out of Leeds United’s clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

Dallas limped off inside the opening 10 minutes in the 3-0 defeat at Everton last weekend but has been able to take part in some light training this week.

"Dallas is recovering, he hasn't been discarded from Sunday's game," Bielsa said in his pre-match press conference, suggesting he remains in contention this weekend.

Bielsa also provided updates on the fitness of Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Leo Hjelde. Click here to check it out.

Drameh progress

Cody Drameh has made a superb start to life at Cardiff City following his January loan move from Leeds United, according Wales Online Senior Sports Writer Tom Coleman.

Drameh has already made seven starts for the Bluebirds, where he has provided one assist and helped them to four victories to ease relegation fears.

Marcelo Bielsa was disappointed to lose Drameh last month, however it appears as though the 20-year-old’s decision to seek valuable game time is paying off.

Coleman said: “Drameh is one of several January arrivals that have impressed under Steve Morison. I think it was seen as something of a coup given that Marcelo Bielsa was seemingly so reluctant to let him leave Elland Road. His last few performances have been particularly impressive, and he's already developing into a fans' favourite here.”
