Leeds United news as loanee opens goalscoring account, Whites fans praised

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Wednesday, 2 February.

Edmondson opens account

On-loan Leeds United striker opened his account for Port Vale on Tuesday night as he netted the opener in their 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers.

Edmondson joined the Valiants last month on a loan deal until the end of the season and got off the mark in what was his second league start for the club.

Speaking to Port Vale’s YouTube channel post-match, he revealed his delight at scoring his first goal for the club, but admitted he did not know much about it.

He said: “I think the video speaks for itself. As a striker you just claim everything you can but to get off the mark is a massive thing for me as a striker.

“I’m three or four appearances in now so to get off the mark this early is a great achievement. It’s a shame about the result but on a personal note I’m very happy.”

Aaronson concerns

Leeds United writer Beren Cross has been addressing fans concerns on the Whites’ summer pursuit of Brenden Aaronson in his latest Q&A.

The Whites submitted two bids for Aaronson last month – totalling £15 and £20 million – however RB Salzburg held firm in their not for sale stance and Leeds will instead return for him in the summer providing they remain in the Premier League.

And while some supporters are concerned that a summer move allows other side to jump in, Beren thinks that clubs will have been interested in January too regardless of Leeds’ bids.

He said: “I understand the concerns around Aaronson and the perception Leeds interest has now flagged him up for everyone else, but in reality, anyone interested in him for this summer would have already been interested before this month came around.”

Leeds support ranked as best in PL

Leeds United supporters have been ranked as the most passionate in the Premier League by website 1sports1.

Newcastle United have been placed second on the list, while Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham make up the rest of the top five.

Meanwhile, Brentford, who were promoted from the Championship last season, are said to be the least passionate fanbase, with Watford and Burnley also in the bottom three.

Despite winning the Premier League in five of the last nine seasons, Manchester City have been named in 17th-place, while Manchester United are just one position above in 16th.
