Leeds United news as insider view reveals 'relaxed' Whites ready to cause a major shock

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Sunday May 28, 2023, the final day of the Premier League season.

Fowler's inside view

Former Leeds United forward and Premier League goal-scoring great Robbie Fowler says its far from certain the Whites will be relegated today. Fowler has revealed how a trip to Leeds' training ground surprised him at what he found, with the squad in relaxed mood and a real positive atmosphere around the place.

Fowler believes that could be very beneficial for Sam Allardyce's side and he says the fact Everton are being tipped to survive is no formality.

Speaking in the Sunday Mirror, Fowler says; “Everton are favourites to win the desperate scrap for safety at the foot of the Premier League, but, believe me, it’s no formality.

“I know, because I have inside information. I went down to the Leeds training ground last week to have a look at how Sam Allardyce and his coaching staff are handling the pressure of a must-win game with so much at stake. Honestly, I was impressed.

“You could see how relaxed Big Sam has got the squad, there was a warmth around the place and, given what Leeds are up against, the atmosphere was really good, surprisingly positive.”

Allardyce ready to pull out dance moves

Leeds United interim boss Sam Allardyce says he'll dance with Rodrigo if his side pull off the impossible and survive in the Premier League. The 68-year-old famously danced with Bolton Wanderers talisman Jay-Jay Okocha after keeping the Trotters in the top flight at the end of the 2001-02 campaign.

The Whites head coach admits keeping his side up would be the best achievement of his career to date but admits a lot of things must fall into place for that to happen.

Allardyce: "In terms of saving football clubs it would be the best of the lot. I've saved football clubs in dire and desperate situations but that's always been about a lot more games and a lot more opportunities than this.

"To put into place what you need to save them, look, there's tactics and players playing to there best, then there's good fortune. Our good fortune will happen on Sunday hopefully."

New technical director on the radar

Belgian publication, Het Nieuwsblad, claims Leeds and Southampton are both looking to bring KRC Genk technical director Dimitri de Condé to their clubs. The Whites are without a sporting director following Victor Orta's Elland Road departure, but question marks over the current ownership at Elland Road.

The report claims several English clubs are keeping an eye on the 48-year-old, with both the Whites and the Saints mentioned in the article. De Condé has brought in €300million in transfer revenue in recent years and the Saints are said to know him well having signed Paul Onuachu from Genk in the January transfer window.

Both sides are preparing for life in the Championship, unless Leeds can pull off a dramatic final day escape.
