Leeds United news as fresh Jack Harrison reports emerge and Marsch and Radrizzani set for talks

Your Leeds United headlines for Monday, August 1.

Harrison bid rejected

French outlet Foot Mercato claims Leeds have rejected an offer from Newcastle United for Jack Harrison. Rumours have intensified in recent weeks linking the winger to the newly-rich Magpies.

After losing Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, it would take a huge sum of money to make the Whites cash in. The report suggests Newcastle have had a £33million bid rejected for Harrison, who only signed permanent terms at Elland Road last year.

Toon boss Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his frontline but Leeds would gain no benefit from selling to a direct Premier League rival. It is understood Jesse Marsch wants to keep Harrison after already losing his two best players this window.

Marsch to meet Radrizzani

Jesse Marsch confirmed he will meet Andrea Radrizzani to discuss potential targets this week. Speaking after the Whites’ 6-2 pre-season win against Cagliari, the American spoke of his desire to add “more additions” to his squad.

Leeds have spent around £100million this summer, with the big-money sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha bankrolling the transfer budget. Marsch hopes to see more players arrive at Elland Road before the window slams shut.

“Andrea is here this week and we’ll have a lot of good discussions,” he said post-match. “With the five guys we’ve brought in, we were totally clear that these five guys were who we wanted and we went out and got them.

“I’m very thankful to Victor and Andrea for getting those done and they did a good job early to secure those players integrated into our team. It’s made us strong for where we are right now.

“We want to make some more additions and we have targets. We wanted last week to really evaluate things and then be prudent on our future decisions. Hopefully this week we’ll make some final decisions and final moves.”

Adams plays down Phillips comparison

New arrival Tyler Adams insists he does not compare himself to former fans’ favourite Phillips. Manchester City ended a long-winded saga to sign Phillips by stumping up around £50million for the England star.

This forced Leeds to seek a new holding midfielder - and Adams arrived last month for a fraction of the cost. However, the United States international insists he is not a like-for-like replacement for Phillips.

“Kalvin Phillips is an unbelievable player, what he’s done for Leeds speaks for itself,” Adams told Sky Sports. “But I didn’t come in to be Kalvin Phillips, I came in to be Tyler Adams and I’m a completely different player. He deserves that move to Manchester City but I’m just here to be myself.”
