Carlton Palmer discusses Tyler Roberts to Birmingham City deal
Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts looks to be on the verge of joining Championship rivals Birmingham City, as the Wales striker's five-and-a-half year spell at Elland Road comes to an end.
Roberts signed for Leeds in the January 2018 transfer window for a fee of £2.5million from West Bromwich Albion and after spending last year on loan at QPR, is now set to return to the West Midlands in a deal that has been reported to be between £500,000 and £750,000, plus add-ons.
Former Leeds midfielder Carlton Palmer has given his thoughts on the deal, saying it should benefit both sides as he pondered whether the Whites will ensure there are either sell-on or buy-back clauses in the 24-year-old's deal.

“Tyler, now 24, needs to get his career going," Palmer told Football League World. “I think it’s a mutually beneficial deal for both clubs.
“He’s nowhere near Leeds’ first team and could well shine at Birmingham City. A fee of £750,000 with add-ons, I think this is good business for Blues, and I’m sure there will be a sell-on or buy-back clause that Leeds will put into his contract.”
Leeds United U21s set for PL2 shake-up
Leeds United Under-21s are due to compete in a 25-team Premier League 2 top tier competition next season, following changes to the league structure. That’s according to Youth Hawk, via Training Ground Guru, who claim Premier League clubs have voted to implement a Swiss-style league format at youth level.
The Whites enjoyed huge success last season at U21 level as they bounced back from relegation to win promotion from Division 2 through the play-offs. However, while the promotion was clearly an impressive achievement, the league structure changes mean every other second tier team will also be stepping up to create one large division.
According to the report, starting from the start of next season, all 25 teams with category one academies will be thrown together in one league. Teams will be seeded, with previous performances set to dictate fixtures over the course of a 20-game season, rather than just a straight round robin, before a 16-team knockout competition will determine the winner of the competition.
