Leeds United news as ex-Arsenal striker urges Whites to sign German full-back

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Friday, December 16.

Ex-Arsenal striker urges Leeds to sign German full-back

Kevin Campbell suggests PSV Eindhoven left-back Philipp Max would be a 'good signing' for Leeds United. The January transfer window is fast approaching and the left-back position is one area that Leeds need to strengthen.

Form and fitness has eluded Junior Firpo since his arrival from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, while Pascal Struijk has filled the void in adequate fashion.

Max has been one name which has been proposed as an option, with the Football Insider reporting that Leeds are 'set to pursue' the 29-year-old in January. The legitimacy of those claims are still unclear but Campbell believes Max would inject experience into the side.

The former Arsenal forward told Football Insider: “The experience they have seems to be on the treatment table a lot, and that’s not right. You can’t legislate for that, but it’s not right.

“This team is very young. It needs a bit more seasoning to it, and that’s what Philipp Max would bring. He’s an international, he’s seen it all in two top leagues – he’d be a good signing.”

Leeds United's final World Cup pay-out amount revealed as stars return from Qatar

The final pay-out amount owed to Leeds United from FIFA has been revealed as three of their summer signings return from Qatar ready to hit the ground running when the Premier League returns later this month.

Denmark's Rasmus Kristensen and USMNT stars Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson have all seen the club's compensation limited however, due to how recently they joined the Whites according to The Athletic.

Despite finishing second in their group, both U.S players will only grant Leeds little over $70,000 (£56,000) with Kristensen's early exit with the Danish only worth $60,000 (£48,000).

The return of the Premier League is now just around the corner and Leeds United are hard at work on the training ground. The clash with Sociedad comes first, with Leeds set to take on the Spanish outfit this evening at Elland Road and a video posted on the club’s YouTube channel and LUTV shows just how they have been preparing for that clash.
